The Norwegian Arthritis Registry (NorArtritt) was approved by the Ministry of Health and Care Services as a national quality registry for patients with chronic inflammatory joint diseases in March 2013. NorArtritt aims at improving the quality of treatment and follow-up of all patients in Norway with chronic inflammatory joint diseases by registering patient demographics, comorbidity, diagnosis, medical treatment, safety- and efficacy of treatment, and patient outcome.
Chronic inflammatory joint diseases are common in the population and since these patients need continued follow-up, the amount of data to the registry will be vast and electronic data collection is consequently mandatory. GoTreatIT® is a patient monitoring system including structured data for all variables of importance in the treatment and follow-up of these patients. This system is an efficient and intuitive clinical tool already in every-day clinical use at most departments of rheumatology in Norway. Using GoTreatIT® as the data collection platform for NorArtritt thus enables the collection of all required data without burdening the clinicians with extra registering.
In the process of developing the adjusted GoTreatIT® version for the registry, the cooperation with DiaGraphIT®, the developer of GoTreatIT®, has in every way been easy and efficient. All the needs of our registry have been met and all work has been done within given time limits. As a consequence, Norwegian rheumatologists may continue the use of GTI as an efficient clinical tool while simultaneously reporting high quality data to the national arthritis registry.
